Viral Hepatitis
Hepatitis C treatment success and ongoing HBV/HDV pipeline define this field with WHO 2030 elimination targets driving policy. The session covers DAA implementation gaps (Glecaprevir/Pibrentasvir, Sofosbuvir/Velpatasvir), bulevirtide and lonafarnib in hepatitis D, HBV functional cure trials (siRNA, ASO, capsid inhibitors, therapeutic vaccines), HCC surveillance protocols, and the WHO 2030 elimination targets across regions. Discussion addresses HCV in special populations (PWID, prisoners, transgender), HBV-HCC surveillance in immigrants from endemic countries, hepatitis A and E outbreaks, the role of point-of-care HCV testing in MOUD settings, and the implementation gaps that prevent elimination despite curative DAAs.
