Biliary & Liver Surgery
Surgical and interventional biliary disease care intersects gastroenterology, surgery and interventional radiology. The session covers laparoscopic and robotic cholecystectomy techniques, ERCP for choledocholithiasis and biliary strictures (including SpyGlass cholangioscopy), EUS-guided biliary drainage replacing surgical bypass, primary sclerosing cholangitis management and surveillance, cholangiocarcinoma diagnosis and targeted therapy (FGFR2 fusions, IDH1 mutations), and IgG4-related sclerosing cholangitis. Discussion addresses biliary atresia in pediatric patients, choledochal cysts and surgical management, hilar Klatskin tumour resection, the role of liver transplantation in biliary disease, and emerging biliary stent technologies including biodegradable and drug-eluting platforms.
