Helicobacter pylori
Helicobacter pylori management is shaped by rising antimicrobial resistance and the new vonoprazan era. The session covers vonoprazan-based regimens (PCAB-amoxicillin dual therapy, PCAB-amoxicillin-clarithromycin triple), the 2024 Maastricht VI guidelines, rescue therapy after PPI-clarithromycin failure, susceptibility testing including molecular methods (GenoType, PCR), gastric-cancer prevention through screen-and-treat, and population-based programmes in Asian high-risk regions. Discussion addresses bismuth quadruple therapy, MALT lymphoma regression after eradication, gastric microbiome dysbiosis, the role of H. pylori in iron-deficiency anaemia and ITP, and the long-debated H. pylori effect on GERD and esophageal adenocarcinoma risk.
