Capsule Endoscopy

Video capsule endoscopy has expanded beyond small bowel to colon and oesophagus with AI-augmented reading platforms. The session covers small-bowel bleeding workup with capsule endoscopy, Crohn's small-bowel monitoring and disease activity assessment, colon capsule endoscopy for screening (especially post-incomplete colonoscopy or screening refusal), oesophageal capsule for Barrett's surveillance, AI-assisted reading platforms (CapsoVision, IntroMedic, Medtronic PillCam), and capsule retention management. Discussion addresses the patency capsule, motorised steerable capsules, drug-delivery capsules in development, capsule endoscopy in pediatric populations, and the integration of capsule findings with cross-sectional imaging.
