Achalasia & Motility
Esophageal and intestinal motility disorders benefit from high-resolution manometry, new pharmacotherapy and endoscopic interventions. The session covers Chicago Classification 4.0, peroral endoscopic myotomy (POEM) for achalasia subtypes I-III, gastroparesis management in the GLP-1 era including diagnostic differentiation, prokinetics (metoclopramide, prucalopride, erythromycin alternatives), jejunal feeding indications, and pelvic-floor dysfunction with anorectal manometry. Discussion addresses chronic intestinal pseudo-obstruction, Hirschsprung disease in adults, neurogastroenterology biomarkers, the role of pyloric Botox and stenting in gastroparesis, and emerging neuromodulation devices for gastrointestinal motility disorders.
