Gastric & Esophageal Cancer

Upper-GI cancers represent significant global mortality with major treatment-paradigm shifts in immunotherapy and screening. The session covers H. pylori-related gastric cancer prevention and screen-and-treat programmes, Barrett's surveillance with WATS-3D and seamless surveillance pathways, endoscopic submucosal dissection (ESD) for early disease, immunotherapy for advanced disease (nivolumab-chemo first-line for esophageal SCC; pembrolizumab for gastric), biomarker-driven targeted therapy (HER2 trastuzumab/T-DXd, FGFR2b bemarituzumab, CLDN18.2 zolbetuximab), and liquid biopsy in early detection. Discussion addresses neoadjuvant immunotherapy data, ctDNA-guided adjuvant therapy, the comparison of perioperative chemotherapy regimens, gastric cancer disparities in Asian populations, and emerging combination strategies.
